Day 1. Nairobi – Sweetwaters Game Sanctuary
Today we travel to the exotic Sweetwaters Tented Camp in the secluded heart of Ol Pejeta Ranch and Rhino Reserve. Here, these magnificent beasts are given sanctuary from those who would take their lives to sell their horns. Here too, the Jane Goodall Institute operates a remarkable Chimpanzee Sanctuary where we meet the primates face to- face. Our camp also overlooks one of the busiest waterholes in the area and offers elephant, giraffe and myriad plains game. This is Africa as Teddy Roosevelt saw it years ago when he led one of the first safaris to tour Africa in comfort and splendor. Our tents at Sweetwaters will remind us of this bygone era.

Day 4 Lake Nakuru National Park
Today we further explore Lake Nakuru National Park on two extensive Game Drives. Lake Nakuru offers one of the world’s most spectacular wildlife sights: brilliant pink flamingos as far as the eye can see. When conditions are right, between one and two million lesser and greater flamingos feed around the shores of the shallow soda lake, together with tens of thousands of other birds. The best place to view the birds is from Baboon Cliff, where you get an excellent view over the lake, and the film of pink along its fringe.
Game in Nakuru is plentiful. On a single drive you are likely to see impala, defassa waterbuck, white rhino and big herds of buffalo on the open grasslands. A glimpse of a twitching ear revealed a pride of lions lying in the shade of a small tree. A special sighting at Nakuru is the Rothschild giraffe, introduced into the park for their special protection. With its distinct patterning, the Rothschild matches the reticulated giraffe of the north for dramatic looks.
