Day 1 – Nairobi-Nakuru

We leave Nairobi in the morning and head out to Nakuru through the floor of the Great Rift Valley, while stopping on the way for curios and to admire and marvel at the breathtaking views of the escarpment along the way. We shall arrive at The Alps and check in as we have our lunch. Then we shall join the exciting ‘Spice’ game run. The game in this Park is plentiful and the magnificent bird watching will make a devotee out of even the most reluctant.

The Park is a home to stunning flocks of lesser and Greater Flamingos, which literally turn the lakeshores in to a magnificent pink stretch. The bird life here is world renown and over 400 bird’s species exist here, White Pelicans, Plovers, Egrets and Marabou Stork. It is also one of the very few places in Africa to see the White Rhino and rare Rothschild Giraffe. We shall then head back to the hotel.

Day 2  Menengai Crater then head to Kisumu

After breakfast, we shall visit the Menengai Crater which is a massive shield volcano with one of the biggest calderas in the world, in the Great Rift Valley, Kenya. It is the largest volcano caldera in Kenya and the second largest volcano caldera in Africa.  We shall have a three hours hike with a guide around the crater. We shall return to the hotel and have lunch  as we get ready to depart for the city of Kisumu.

After lunch, we shall depart for Kisumu City which is about four hours drive from Nakuru town. It is a Kenyan port city on Lake Victoria. It’s known for lakeside viewpoints at Dunga Hill Camp and Hippo Point. On arrival, we shall check in at Kiboko Bay Resort and have our dinner.

Day 3 Explore Impala Sanctuary and Ruma National Park

After breakfast, we shall head out to Kisumu Impala Sanctuary which is located within the city and lies along the shores of Lake Victoria and is branded as ‘a lakeshore walk with impalas’. There’s a diverse population of flora and fauna both free ranging and captive. Over 115 species of birds have been recorded. Presently, the sanctuary boasts of all the big five game except for the elephant. Annually, the sanctuary conducts the Kisumu Impala Conservation Boat Race event in November to help create awareness of wildlife, especially the endangered sitatunga antelope. The sanctuary also provides an important open grazing for hippopotamus population and refuge for the threatened sitatunga antelope in the nearby swamps. We shall have a comprehensive tour of the Sanctuary then proceed to have lunch at the Hotel.

After Lunch, we shall then head out to Ruma National park to join the afternoon game drive. The park is dubbed the “Last Retreat of the Roan Antelope”, the park protects the only indigenous population of rare roan antelopes within Kenya. It was established in 1966 as Lambwe Valley Game Reserve but later renamed “Ruma” after one of Kenya’s most powerful wizard, the much feared Gor Mahia who lived around the park. We shall join the afternoon game run and later on we shall return to Kiboko Bay Resort.

Day 4 Return to Nairobi

After breakfast, we shall begin our journey  back to Nairobi. We shall have a stopover at Nakuru where we’ll have our lunch and any preferred refreshments. Then we shall proceed to Nairobi.
