5 Days / 4 Nights: Masai Mara Game Reserve – Lake Nakuru – Nairobi

Kenya’s most famous and finest game sanctuary and Lake Nakuru National Park _ bird sanctuary. In the months of June and July each year, the wildebeests in their troops arrive at the Kenyan border, ready to cross the steep banks of the broad and fast flowing Mara River. This crossing is truly the greatest episode of the entire migration.

Day 1 Nairobi – Masai Mara Game Reserve

After a leisure breakfast at your Nairobi Hotel, depart overland to the Masai Mara Game Reserve-jewel of Kenya’s Game Park. This enormous Reserve actually part of the vast Serengeti plains is famously known for it’s spectacular great wildebeest migration and is a true home of the big five-Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Rhino and Cape Buffalo. After lunch, explore the Reserve on a late evening ‘Spice’ game drive.

Day 2 Explore Masai Mara

The Masai Mara is one of the greatest wildernesses of the world. Morning and afternoon ‘Spice’ game drives are planned. Large mammals are varied, abundant and easy to see. Residents among the parks mammals are; Masai Giraffe, Buffalo, Impala, Zebra, Topi, both the Thomson’s and Grant’s Gazelles. Optional hot Air Balloon rides are available on this day at an additional cost. On this final day in the Mara, you also have an opportunity to visit an authentic Masai village.

Day 3 Discover Masai Mara

We spend a full day in the Masai Mara on morning and afternoon ‘Spice’ game drives. The trees in the distance might turn out to be a family of Giraffes. Those clump of bushes a pride of Lions, and the rock that moves a Rhino lumbering out of your way. With diligence and some luck, you may encounter a family of Cheetahs, or a herd of Elephants crossing the path in front of you. Large animals are not the only entertainment – a family of warthogs may amuse you, running as fast as their little legs will carry them, until they forget why they are rushing and stop to regroup.

Day 4 Masai Mara – Lake Nakuru National Park

Depart Masai Mara after breakfast for Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving at your lodge in time for lunch. In the afternoon a ïSpiceÍ game drive is planned. Besides the flamingos that the lake is famous for, there are approximately 400 other species of birds in Lake Nakuru. In addition, a large variety of game can be found in the Park including the introduced Rothschild’s Giraffe, Black and White Rhino, Waterbuck, Reedbuck, Lion, Buffalo, Leopard, Baboon and many species of plains game.

Day 5 Lake Nakuru – Nairobi

Begin today with an early morning ‘Spice’ game drive followed by a complete English breakfast at your lodge. Depart for Nairobi with a game drive en-route. Upon arrival in Nairobi, the balance of the day is at leisure for last minute assisted shopping and sightseeing.
